Show Weber Demos Name Col. Shreeve Chairman A three -way contest for Weber County Democratic chairman ended in victory for Col. Caleb A. Shreeve (Ret.) Others seeking the chairmanship chairman-ship at the county Democratic organization convention were Clyde C. Paterson and Bartley L. Lower. Col. Shreeve received 126 votes to 119 for Mr. Paterson and 32 for Mr. Lower. In an equally spirited contest Mrs. Leon D. (Wanda) King won 156 votes to 119 for Mrs. Gene DeGroot to become county vice-chairman. vice-chairman. Frank Francis Jr. was retained as treasurer. The convention did not select a new treasurer but the office, currently held by Calvin Cal-vin Gould, will be filled by the country central committee at a later date. Calvin W. Rawlings, national committeeman, was principal speaker. He upbraided the Republican Re-publican administration on a number of points, focusing attention atten-tion on the Tidewater Oil deal, which he declared was "an illegal il-legal act was was so declared by the United States Supreme Court." Mr. Rawlings said that "politics is a fine profession and my definition defi-nition of a politician is one who believes in good government and is willing to devote his time and effort to achieving it. "The elections of 1952 and 1956 were won for the Republicans Repub-licans on the basis of emotions, largely fostered by clever slogans slo-gans such as "Korea, Communism Commu-nism and Corruption." The time has come when we should let the people know the truth about this slogan and explode the Eisenhower Ei-senhower myth.
