Mr. Champ also announced that during May, the 17th anniver-sary of the savings bond program there will be a concentrated na-tional "Share in America" cam-paign designed to: 1. Rekindle an awareness that the continuouse purchase of Sav-ings Bonds is a positive way that individual Americans can back up our military strength and pro-vide our economy with the capi-tal necessary to explore the new areas of science, make the fullest possible use of our resources, and maintain sufficient flexibil-ity to move quickly in response to changing conditions. 2. Sell the greatest possible number of savings bonds to the greatest possible number of our Americans. 3. Sign up at least one million new payroll savers: 8V2 million now purchase bonds regularly where they work. "No one save for saving's sake alone. Those who in the past have built up a safety factor for their futre can now buy some of their most wanted needs, thus helping our economy, while continuing to replenish their savings funds through regular and systematic purchases of savings bonds," Mr. Champ said. Salt Lake county bond pur-chases during March were $748,-19-0, to bring the 3 months sales total to $2,293,453. |
