Show All Quiet on Political Front As Candidates Hold Back Another week has passed without with-out open opposition developing to the Senate candidacy of Salt Lake County Attorney Frank E. Moss, the only Democrat thus far to announce for a major national office. However, there were reports circulating that retiring State Democratic Chairman Milton L. Weilenmann may seek the nomination nomi-nation after he resigns as state chairman. Mr. Weilenmann has said he would resign at the state organization convention May 10 in Salt Lake City. There remained the possibility that former Governor Herbert B. Maw might come into the race and former state Senator Warwick War-wick C. Lamoreaux also was regarded re-garded as a possible dark horse candidate. Meanwhile, Mr Moss was pushing push-ing ahead. It appeared certain he would get through the convention conven-tion and the Moss forces apparently ap-parently are concentrating on the possibility of having to wage a primary battle if other candidates candi-dates should come forth. As of Thursday no new candidates candi-dates have announced for either of the two Congressional posts which are open this year. Only Democrat in the race thus far is David Welling, seeking the nomination nom-ination in the First District. |
