Show S. L. Times to Award Journalist Scholarship The Salt Lake Times will send a high school student to the second sec-ond annual High School Press Workshop June 9 to 14 at Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University by providing pro-viding a scholarship award, according ac-cording to Glenn Bjornn, publisher. pub-lisher. An outstanding student interested inter-ested in news writing and editing will be selected. The workshop, which is open to students who will be juniors or seniors next school year, will give the young people intensive training in writing, editing, duplicating du-plicating and press processes, advertising ad-vertising and preparing school news for local papers. Participants will be housed in BYU dormitories and will participate par-ticipate in a number of recreational recrea-tional activities during the week, including gymnasium games, a fun party, swimming, film classic clas-sic and a fellowship banquet. Total cost per student will be $28, including lodging, meals, and activities. Interested students may obtain a folder describing the workshop by writing to Wayne M. Carle, Press Workshop director, Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University, Provo. The Salt Lake Times scholar-i scholar-i ship will be awarded in mid-May I Mr. Bjornn reported. |
