Show License plates go on sale in all counties of Utah on Jan. 2. National Guard plates can be purchased by mail through the main office, Utah State Tax Commission, Com-mission, State Capitol, Salt Lake City. Where transfer of title is involved in-volved Guardsmen must visit or mail applications to the mani office of-fice of the Tax Commission. Branch offices are not authorized author-ized to handle such transactions, according to Byron Jones, Director, Di-rector, Motor Vehicle License Division, Di-vision, Utah State Tax Commission. Utah National Guard License Plates Are Available Now Distinctive 1959 Utah National Guard license plates are available avail-able for members of the Utah National Guard, according to Major General Maxwell E. Rich, Utah Adjutant General. Utah law permits members of the Army or Air National Guard, in good standing to purchase the distinctive plates. They can be used on passenger type vehicles of non-commercial registration. The vehicle must be registered in the name of the Guardsman or in his and his spouses's name. Pick-up trucks and other commercial com-mercial vehicles cannot be licensed li-censed with Guard plates regardless re-gardless of ownership or use. Procedures for obtaining plates for 1957 have been simplified. National Guard commanders will provide members with an identification identi-fication certificate which is enclosed en-closed with the regular application applica-tion for license plates. This can be taken to the Utah State Tax Commission or one of its regional re-gional offices where plates will be issued. |
