Show American Education Week American Education Week, scheduled for the week of November 8 to 15, is a time for citizens to turn their thinking to the responsibility of meeting the needs in their local schools. It is fitting that they measure the calibre of the schools thev now have in terms of what they desire for boys and girls in the future. The National Congress of Parents and Teachers is one of the four sponsors of AEW. Together with the United States Office of Education, the National Education Association, and the American Legion, they can provide opportunities for teachers (Continued on Page Four) American Education Week (Continued from Page One) and school officials to interpret educational objectives and methods to the public and to describe school needs and problems. The purposes of AEW, as set forth this year are: 1) to encourage and strengthen school-community relationship; 2) to extend public appreciation and understanding of education; 3) to interpret the school program to the parents; and 4) to portray the needs and problems of the schools. During this week the schools of America invite the parents and other interested persons to observe them in operation. Education Edu-cation must be looked upon as an investment in people and in the American form of government. American educational programs pro-grams will be no better than the individual American parent wants them to be. Visit your schools in classrooms see your schools in action. |
