Show Educational TV Draws 30 Per Cent A surprising total of 12 million Americans are now watching educational television regularly a good indicator of the popularity popu-larity Utah's own KUED may enjoy when it begins broadcasting broadcast-ing sometime in January. The figure, which does not include in-clude viewers of educational programs on commercial channels, chan-nels, is based on a recent audience audi-ence survey by the Educational Television and Radio Center in Ann Arbor. If the national viewing pattern prevails in the intermountain area, about 30 per cent of the regular television audience will select programs on KUED. Educational broadcasters have not aimed at attracting mass audiences, aud-iences, instead they have emphasized em-phasized selective rather than steady viewing. "A farm group may watch a program on parity, for example, while art lovers may tune to a series on painting," paint-ing," Dr. Ryland Crary, director of ETRC, said in releasing the udience survey. |
