Show A Royal Wedding. London, Jnly 25. One of the most notable society events of the season was the marriage today of Lieutenant Victor Christian William Cavendish, nephew of the Duke of Devonseine, being the eldest son of Edward, the Duke's surviving brother, and Evelyn Emily Mary, eldest daughter of tho Marquis of Lansdowne, YoungCavendishe was born In ISoS, and his bride in 1870. The cer-mony cer-mony was a brilliant affair, the happy couple receiving the usual large number of costly presents, the most substantal of which, however, was a modest looking piece of paper which proved to be a deed by which the Duke of Devonshire conveys to the young couple the vast income accruing to the family from the Abbey lands taken from the monks by King Heury VIII, and bestowed upon the ancestor of the duke. |
