Show 600 BUILDINGS BURNED. Disastrous Fire at St. Johns Rages With Terrific Fnry. Halifax, N. D., July 9. It . Is hard to get any particulars of the fire disaster at St. John, N. F., as the telegraph office has been destroyed. It is stated that two-thirds of the city is burned down. It is reported re-ported that as is known six children and one man were burned to death. The parliament buildings were among those destroyed. According to the latest accounts 600 buildings were burned. There is much suffering among the people who are homeless. home-less. The mayor has appealed .to other cities for aid. A report from St. Johns dated 1 p. m., says the south side of the row is on fire and a big fire is coming down the fresh water valley. This is in the southern portion of the town that escaped last night. At 1:30 p. m. communication with St John's again ceased.
