Show THE LEGISLATURE. The Council. The council was called to order with Mr. Lund in the chair. After prayers by the chaplain and reading and approval of the journal, the council settled downto business of the fortieth day. Mr. Lund, by the request of Mr. Kiug, having tilled the chair, he today notilied the council that Mr. King would not he back till Tuesday, and that they had better elect a chairman. It was moved that Mr. Lund act in that capacity, and he was unanimously elected. C, F. No. 31 was reported favorably from the house, with a few exceptions, and referred re-ferred back to the committee on private corporations. cor-porations. This is a bill for an act to provide pro-vide for additional salaries of each of the judges of the district courts of Utah. ( '. P. 96 was reported favorably from the house. This is an act to make the lirst Monday of September, known as "Labor Day," a legal holiday. C. F. No. XI was reported back from the house, witn quite a number of amendments, the council concurring in the amendments, the bill WM passed and referred to the enrollment en-rollment committee. This is an act providing for the payment of jurors, witnesses and phonographic reporters, re-porters, and creating and defining the duties of court commissioners. The following persons were appointed court commissioners ; II. H. itolapp, for the northern division of the First Judicial district; J. K.
