Show .MINING MATTERS. Result of the Assay on the Heeent Deep Creek Strike. Samples sent Harvey Hardy, the owner of the Muldoon mine on Spring creek, in the Deep creek country, from the newly discovered ledge on that property show an amazingly rich yield of silver. The specimens speci-mens assayed by J, W. Currie run, on an average, 1124 ouuees to the ton. They were knocked off the face of the ledge with a hammer. If the development of the new discovery should prove that the vein is as rich as the assay would show, Mr. Hardy is to be congratulated. None ore more deserving de-serving than he. The gentleman has always al-ways bad a great faith in the Deep creek country, and has invested his money there in the development of its mining industry, Without stint. llieh and Curious Sppi-ilnen. A miner named Lawrence has brought to Salt Lake one of the most curious specimens of mineral that has ever been seen anywhere. It is a conglomerate con-glomerate mass of volcanic matter, both mineral and vegetable, the latter so petri. tied and hardened by the fires of nature as to be scarcely distinguishable from the mineral. min-eral. In tne curious specimen Is tho clearly defined body of a snake. Its head is perfect per-fect and its long body can be traced through the mass of mineral and vegetable matter. The curious specimen was found on Hear river, about thirty-live miles from Malad City, Idaho, hy Mr. Lawrence and a sheep-herder, sheep-herder, who were mining iu that locality.
