The population is ahout 5o,000, and is in-creasing; at a rapid rate. It is situated at the base of the Wasatch mountain in a lovely valley, rich iu agricultural re-sources and is eighteen miles distant from Great Salt Lake. Its elevation above sea level is 4.350 feet. There are many points of interest to visitors in the city and near it. Here are some of them: Th Tempi. This magnificent cream-whit- e granite structure was began April 6, 1858. It is 100x200 feet, the walls are 100 feet high, and the towers, when completed, will be 200 feet height. Over 83.500,000 have been exjiefldw on the temple, and Drtis now neahiig completion. In the j same square with the temple is the spa-cious building called Th TabarBaele. Here are held the services of the mor-mon church and these are attended every Sunday by an immense congrega-tion of people, both mormon and gen-tile. The structure is oval in shape, eventy-fiv- o feet high and 250x150 feet in length and breadth. It has a seating capacity of 12,000 people, and here may be heard what is claimed to be the tin-e-organ in the worid. Patti once sang in the tabernacle, and demonstrated that its acoustic powers are very line. Th tie-d- o Hon or Amelia palace, was built by Brigham Young who willed that it could be the residence of his favorite wife. Amelia Folsom Young, but since his death it has been used as the official residence of dignitaries of the church. Brig-ha- ounjr's fUtldsaM known as the Bee-Hiv- e and the Lion-Hous-are structures, curious from associations. These are situated in what was once Brigham Young's domain, all of which has passed Info other hands, save the large lot in in which is Brigham Young's grave. Froapaot Hill with its lookout tower commands a splendid view of the city and its sur-roundings. Th Tithing Building possesses Interest as being the general depot for taxes collected by the mormon church from its disciples. Liberty Park, in the southeastern portion of the city is a beautiful resort and can be reached by rapid transit trains. The Caaabtr of Commerce. on Seoond South street is visited by those who take an interest in Ihe com- - mercial standing of the city.
