Show A Feper Hospital Needed. AVasiiixgtox. Dec. 1. Supervising Surgeon-General AVyman of the Marine Hospital Hospi-tal service, in his annual report, calls attention atten-tion to the prevalence of leprosy, particularly particular-ly in the neighborhood of "the West Indies and South America, and to the presence of the disease in various cities and localities in the United States, and states that cases may be allowed to exist undisturbed in some localities, lo-calities, because no provisions are made for their segregation. Whatever theories may be advanced regarding the contagiousness of the disease, there is no doubt that, w here indifference in-difference is manifested as to isolatiou, it slowly spreads, and, as no state possesses a leper hospital, the establishment of a national na-tional leper hospital is therefore recommended. |
