Show The New York Morning Advertiser, which went through the lust campaign with a strictly independent attitude, reviews re-views the signs of the times as to Mr. Cleveland's chances and concludes thus: "Perhaps Mr. Cleveland would be beaten if nominated. Our opinion is that he would be, provided the republicans re-publicans do not make tho mistake of nominating Mr. Hahkison." There is not now a single democratic or independent inde-pendent paper of note in New York city that supports Cleveland. The two leading democratic papers, the Sun and World, both oppose him, and the two leading independent dailies, the Herald and Advertiser, think he would be beaten. Only the mugwump Times and the Evening Post stick to him. Undoubtedly Cleveland's weak point is New York. |
