The animal became terribly frightened frighten-ed and began trumpet ing and riitiniug about, making frantic efforts to upset tho cliihlrcn. All fell efT. All but one escaped uninjured. A little boy named Johnny Luton was tho victim, lie was caught under the elephants feet and crushed out of all semblance to humanity. humani-ty. Tim keeper of the elephant stuck a pitchfork in the animal's trunk and was thrown high in the air by the enraged animal, but not seriously hurt.
