I The legislation conventions for the i selection of candidates for the house ! and council from the Tenth and Seventeenth Seven-teenth districts respectively, was held at Toiiiervilie this morning. Martin Stack was elected chairman, and alter dwelling briefly upon the present situation situa-tion iu l 'tah proceeded with the appointment appoint-ment of committees on credentials, order of business and resolutions. The committees report endorsing the platform of tho parly iu Salt Luke was unanimously adopted, whereupon nominations nom-inations were proceeded with. The result was tile nomination of Silas W. West for councillor coun-cillor of the Tenth district and John F. Childester, for representative from the Seventh district. Much enthusiasm characterized the convention and the republican party in those districts feels that it has laid tho foundation for a steady aud substantial growth. |
