Show REPUBLICANISM IN LOCAN. Trom Friday's Nation. A rousing republican meeting was . hold in the county court house last evening, Hon. James T. Hammond in the chair. Every available seat was oo-cupied. oo-cupied. Uu motion of Mr. Knowles tbose present wishing to become members of the republioan club attached their names to the roll. Twenty new members mem-bers signed making s total of forty-six. forty-six. Tha regular business of tha meeting was proceeded with in the following order: or-der: The committee on constitution and by-laws, appointed at a foi trier meeting reported by reading a constitution embracing em-bracing fifteen articles. Tha articles ; were adopted by acclamation. The by-laws were then read by section, sec-tion, amended and adopted bv the club- The by-laws om brace sixteen sections. Tbe constitution and by-laws include all necessary provisions for tbe conducting conduct-ing of ths club. They provide that members may be admitted by a three-fourths three-fourths vote of the club, end upon payment pay-ment of GO cents. Ten members constitute consti-tute a quorum. Monthly dues were fixed at L'3 oents. Every needful pro-visiou pro-visiou is made for guiding tha officers and members, and for the disseminating of Republican principles. The club was christened "The Lincoln Lin-coln Republican Club of Logan," and a permnneut organization was elfected as follows: J. T. Hammond, president. ('. C Goodwia, vice-presiUent. U. S. Watson, second vice-president. Joel Ricks, secretary. J. W. Quayle, treasurer. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. P. W. Maughan, T. G. Morris, Isaac Smith, Joseph Knowles, E. M. Cole. Hon. C. W. Nibley was then called for and responded in a telling speech on the present political situation, stating t that he had been taught from childhood to fo.iterand encourage home industries and this cannot be accomplished with- out a protective tanlr. So far as centralization cen-tralization is concerned, or any other pretended diHereuces.be cared nothing. The distinction between tbe two great nalional parties on these points is of such an iusignilicant nature that it is not worth parleying over. He looked upon James G. Maine as tho greatest statesman of the age. Mr. Nibley wag loudly applauded. Somo minor business was transacted, and the meeting adjourned, subject to the call by the president. The niajor- lty present expressed themselves to tbe eti'ect that it was the best and most enthusiastic en-thusiastic political meeting ever held in Locan.
