Three years ago a young mau left Mew York for Japan at the solicitation of a largo number of missionaries and has planted a llourishing Y. M. C. A. in Tokio, where there arc SO.OO11 young men iu the various colleges alone. Two vears ago in answer lo an appeal from l'.nlia. tlio international committee at Now York sent tlio general secretary of tho Philadelphia association to Madras, lie has organized a verv suceessful work there nnd recently Bishop '1 ho-burn ho-burn and lii'ty missionaries of Calcutta have been urging that a young man be b -nt to tbeni to organize a Y. M. C. A. on tiie "Ainerivau plan." Tho inis-i-nary associations of Peking and Shanghai, Ciima. and Ceylon aro all hsking for Y. M. C. A. men nnd methods lo reach the young men. This is a new line of mission work aud promises gruat tilings as au aid to regular reg-ular missionary work. |
