Show T: I1EALTYSIARKET. The Exchange Members Report the Receipt Re-ceipt of Nnmero"! Iuquiries for Bait Lake's Firm Foundation THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON DICE The Grandest Oity of the West Offers Investments In-vestments to Capitalists that will Repay for Generous Outlay, Bright sunshine, gentle winds and a good spirit found the members of the real estate exchange in their accustomed accus-tomed place this morning- Each man had a say which was to the effect that the mail of the morning brought them letters of inquiries from eastern parties par-ties who want to possess Suit Lake realty. There is a decided increase in this direction, and it is this which makes the market buoyant. One thing sure the realty dealers of the city realize, and that is the firmness of the market and the gratifying gratify-ing absence of a boom. They understand, under-stand, as do men of conservative temperament, tem-perament, that a boom is of short duration dura-tion and is generally followed by a collapse col-lapse that is of no good to any place. The Times is glad to state that this city is free from such a spirit and in its stead good prices, an upward tendency and increasing substantiability really are here. This is to be desired in a growing city. The prospects for increasing increas-ing building are sure as the sky and the coming season will witness a larger number of new edilices erected than has been the case within the past live years. A great deal of fresh capital in addition ad-dition to that placed by firms who have operated during the past two years has been dropped in Salt Lake for the improvement of the city with business blocks and residences. Capitalists and investors realize that Salt Lake is and always will continue to be the center of supplies and outfits for the great country in which she is most favorably located. Aside from the progress and enterprise enter-prise to be observe d iu and on all sides of the city, the outlying cities and important im-portant points in tho territory are mov- inff nnwarrl in th frraat itivtrwaainn th,t is and will always attract the attention and commeut of the outside world. In beiief Utah is a world within a world. There is no land like this and time alone will verify the statement. The Stock Verdf. Said a well-known real estate agent to a Times reporter: "I have just been visiting the site selected for the stock yards and kindred interests in-terests and to say that the promoters of the enterprise showed good judgment in the selection of the location is putting it very mildly. The most important industries will be located lo-cated in the west half of section two and the east half of section three, township one north, range one west, about two miles north of Beck's Hot springs and a mile west of the county road. The ground from the county road to the river has a gentle slope insuring good drainage. There is no swampy ground in the entire district. The river at this point has quite an embankment with a good growth of trees for a considerable) distance. On the west side of the rim, for a considerable consider-able distance the ground is good. There is no place around Salt Lake City where it is possible to get such a large flow of water from a shallow well as can be obtained in the above locality. It is only about two and a half miles from this point to where the Jordan empties into the Salt Lake, and it will be an easy matter the railroads to extend ex-tend the track which will go through tho stock yards, on to the lake shore for the benefit any such enterprises as chemical works or salt works. In fact the salt needed in the packing houses will almost demand such an arrangement. Five years hence you will see all the heavy interests and big yards of the city concentrated in this district, and it will lie done quickly and quietly. There is no better location for smelting interests than in this district. The railroads rail-roads are arranged to give a perfect service it is only a couple of miles to the best limestone in the territory for milling purposes, and it is far enough away from the city not to be injurious on account of fumes. There is more in the natural gas feature than those on the outside have any idea. Such enterprises en-terprises as these are what gives cities their power to dictate." in |
