Park city citizens have loug been demanding de-manding not only a butter quality of water than they aro now furnished with, but they demanded more of it and with a sufficient pressure to insure a saving of at least a portion of the city in case of a conllagratiou. There is perhaps no other mining camp in Utah, which lias so much pure water as Park, coming as it does from the snows which crown the lofty mountains moun-tains by which we aro surrounded. And yet with this supply of liquid crystal crys-tal the health of our citizens are disregarded disre-garded by giving them a fluid contaminated contami-nated by the drainage from tho Alliance, Alli-ance, Anchor and oilier tunnels which is poisoned by tho smoke of giant powder, pow-der, and their property is in constant jeopardy by a totally inadequate pressure. pres-sure. Mr. Dunbar, of the National Tube works, is now in Park for the purpose of negotiating for pipes for a new system. sys-tem. In laying the question before Mayor Gregor and tho city council his proposition met with general approval and the mayor in reply to him made this answer which I clip from the Record: Re-cord: "The town demands better water wa-ter and more of it, and I will say right here that the council should bestir themselves them-selves in this matter. The reservoirs from which we now get our water supply sup-ply are misplaced and not properly attended at-tended to. Situated as the reservoirs are, where all sorts of debris and tilth accumulate the water that comes from thein is prejudicial to the health of this community, and that much sickness and widespread epidemic have not resulted is more a matter of good fortune than wiso management." Very likely some plans will soon be formulated looking towards a better supply. Nearly all the miners and every other citizen was away last week, either car-nivalling car-nivalling in Ogden or celebrating in Salt Lake, so that the week has been dull.mineralogically considered, though the Fourth of July, carnival, or anything any-thing else materially affects our output. out-put. Mr. Reese of the Record furnishes his readers every week with a delectable delect-able feast of absolutely reliable mining and other news. To "this is due the success of the paper, for Mr. Resse is as unsensatipnal as a spent cannon ball. |
