Mr. Dickenson had left the ollice at il o'clock, and on his return at (:!W o'clock found I hat the back window had been pried open ami that the thief had taken all the money from the till anil scattered the papers over the floor. They also tried to break open the safe but failed in their attempt and secured only the $1"0 in the till. i'rom Dickenson & Co s' the robbers went across the street to Waits. Sperry & Co. and pried open the door with a jimmcy. Mrs. Anderson, who lives upstairs up-stairs heard them and' came down with a revolver and waited for tlietn to come in. They, however, heard lier and skipped. This is the second attempt to rob that place in the past two weeks. About 5 o'clock this morning Policeman Police-man Faircloiigh and Watchman Holmes saw a m tn running down a ladder which reached up from Walker Bros', basement. They at once made inve-li-gatioit and found the door open, but the robbers made their escape without any plunder. |
