Show TWO CHARLEY'S. They SasseU a Policeman and Were Carted OIT to Jail. Two well appearing young men named Charles P. Lynn and Charles Peterson were prisoners at tho police court this morning. Their talo is that they were sitting in an open eateway just off tho sidewalk on West Temple street last night when a crowd of men approached, and one, who wore the usual dress of an ordinary mortal, told them to get along. They replied that they didn't know whether they would or not, and he said he did know. He then arrested them, statinu that he was a police officer. They were brought to jail and a charge of trespass was made against them. They gave bond and appeared promptly this morning for trial, but the oflicer, Rawley, was not on deck. Rawley did not have his uniform on, they say, and they took him for some person who was interesting himself in what was not his business. |
