Show In the Hands of Jay Gould. K. Summerfield, geueral manager of tho Kansas City, Wyandotte & Northwestern North-western railroad, in an interview admitted ad-mitted that Jay Gould had secured an interest in the Northwestern, and said that the Northwestern had a contract with tho Missouri Pacilic whereby it is to enter tho Kansas City union depot over tho Missouri Pacific's tracks. Mr. Summertield denied that Mr. Gould had secured a controlling interest in his road. The Northwestern was built about live years ago as a distinctively Kansas City lino. Kansas City business men subscribed $,"0,000 to tho capital stock, and tho counties in Kansas through which the road runs voted bonds liberally. Before it Mas finished the road was purchased by a syudicato of Memphis capitalists, and' about a year ago was placed in the hands of a receiver. It extends from Kansas City to Beatrice, Nebraska, anil has a branch running to Carbondalo, Kansas. |
