The lVople's party convention for the nomination of candidates met at 230 this afternoon at Social hall. There were 130 delegates present when the venerable John R. Winder called the meeting to order. Mr. Winder asked to be relieved and S. A. Kennard was elected to the chair without a dissenting voice. J. 1). Cummings was chosen as secretary secre-tary and J. M. Barlow was made scr-geant-at-arins. , The chairman appointed a committee on credentials, composed of 'J. II. Moylo, Barlow Ferguson) Spencer Clawson, J. II. Hodges and W. C. A. Smoot, jr. While the committee was out, the chairman made a speech. F. S. Richards next spoke, and Mr. David Kcnzie delivered a few remarks. Mr. Hall then made a few remarks. Young Mr. Whitney wanted a committee commit-tee on order of business and permanent organization appoiuted, but as the chair did not know yet who really were legal delegates the matter was postponed. post-poned. Mr. White made the next address and he was followed by W. II. Stewart, superintendent of schools. One hundred and six of the 130 dele-gales dele-gales were found to be present. The temporary organization was niade permanent per-manent and then tho chair appointed as a committee on resolutions Messrs J. II. Paul. David McK'mzie, J. M. Pike, Frank S. Richards, (i. W.
