Show RUMBLINGS OF THE RAIL. . The B. G. W. In the South Other Item of nntrrest. The Manti Sentinel says: Work on the Rio Grande Western is being be-ing pushed in the north end of the county. The rumor thit all work was suspended proved on investigation to be only exaggerated. Some trouble has been experienced In relation to the right of way through Ephraira,. and a change of route may be made there, hence the work has been suspended in that vicinity until a decision has been reached. A New Line to Pueblo The Burlington and Missouri railroad has a corps of engineers in the field making a preliminary survey of a proposed pro-posed line from Oberlin, Decatur county, coun-ty, in the northwestern part of Kansas, to Pueblo, Colorado. It is said that the line will be constructed next year. The survey has already been made from Pueblo down the Arkansas river to a point known as Rocky Ford, and the engineers are now working in a northeasterly north-easterly direction toward Kit Carson. The company has also made a survey a part of the way from Oberlin, from which point the valley of the Sappa will be followed to Achilles. A Road to Idaho. The ink on the Deep Creek franchise had hardly dried until a meeting of Salt Lake citizens was held in the interest in-terest of another new railroad. The proposed road is to run from Salt Lake City to the Wood River county, Idaho. The meeting was held yesterday in the chamber of commerce with Governor West presiding. The gentlemen pres-. ent were Major Wilkes, N. Treweek, H.C.Lett, J. W. Whitehead, W. H. Irvine, C. C. Uphara, J. D. Spencer, C. W, West, Fred Simon, Spencer Claw-son. Claw-son. L. E. Hall. Wm. Babcock. jr., W. H. Irvine, J. M. Rickelts, F. K. Gillespie. Gilles-pie. W. C. B. Allen and J. M. Goodwin. Good-win. Major Wilkes spoke of the route of the road and said he represented a syndicate syn-dicate having an organization in Idaho who were desirous of having a Utah incorporation in-corporation to assist them in constructing construct-ing the road. The spedker referred to the large timber belt iu upper Boise country and said that it took in fully 600 square miles. Messrs Treweek, Simon, Lett, Upham and Spencer were appointed a committee commit-tee to examine the matter and make a 'report. The meeting adjourned to meet at the same place at 8 o'clock on Friday evening. |
