Through the kindness of Mr. Levis Hamilton the party were today shown the sights of Salt Lake. The merriest member of the party is Mr. A. S. Cross, the Burlington m ina-ger. ina-ger. and his trick cane was the cause of much innocent fun. When M. II. Walker stepped into the Walker house lobby at noon Mr. Cross made a nice speech reciting with much pathos the many hospitalities received at his hands during their stay. Mr. Walker was deeply affected, but as he went to reach for the cane a small stream of water broke out of the silver mounted handle and doused it into his face, while all the entire party joined in the laughter. Among the other meu who wanted to look at the stick was Mr. Fyler, and he trot it in the eye. Mr. Cross says there is no other such place as Salt Lake, and that Chicago is a small sleepy town as compared with the City of Salt. |
