Show My Thanksgiving Day. Editor Timks: Will you kindly permit per-mit me to express through your columns my feelings of thanksgiving toward Borne of the people of this fair city. The Daughters of liebckah have just made complete returns of the entertainment enter-tainment given by them for my benefit, aud the net proceeds, $310.75, have been turned over to help me on the recovery re-covery of my sight. l"or this I am j truly thankful. That the Daughters of Rebekah, auxiliary aux-iliary as they are to tho Odd Fellows' fraternity, should do so much for a stranger, and one entirely outside of the order may seem to sonio like a high personal compliment to me, but I regard re-gard it as a truo exemplification of their noblo order, and a practical demonstration dem-onstration of the work they are doing for humanity. To me the Daughters of Rebekah of Salt Lake are stars of the lirst magnitude magni-tude in a hright and heavenly constellation. I am particularly grateful to Mrs. Dr. S. Ewing, past noble grand of the Daughters of Rebekah, who was the lirst of these devoted women to meet me and become interested in this attempt at-tempt to restore sight to tho sightless. To the ladies and gentlemen who so generously volunteered their services on tho stage, to the gentlemen who donated the theater, gas aud coal, and to the press of the city for their many kindly notices, I am deeply grateful. I also wish to return my sincere thanks V.lleber J. Graut and other prominent .Mormons fur many favors to one not of their faith, and I am especially es-pecially thankful to Messrs. Westertield & Crismon for the inuuiticent gift cf $300 worth of notes and a deed for our homo in this city. 1 fully realize the many great difficulties difficul-ties of the operatiou before me, and know that I may be disappointed in the results, but a letter from one who has had it performed successfully renews ami strengthens my hope. I have much to do yet beforo I can go to have tho operation performed, but I shall not give it up. Believing that by the mercy of God and the skill of those physicians I may some time be aisle to show my gratitude in a more substantial manner, I subscribe sub-scribe myself, most gratefully.
