Show STRUCK I'OK A KIWT. Prisoners in the County Jail ltefiue to Work. . Seventeen prisoners from tho county Jail who are kept at work in the gravel pit at Hot Springs struck this morning. They didn't strike for higher wages nor did they strike for eight hours, they struck for a rest. A meeting was held in the jail yesterday at which time it was decided that nu more work should be done and in consequence when road-supervisor road-supervisor Hall arrived at " tho pit with his force he discovered that the walking delegate had ordered a cessation ces-sation of labor. So ho marched the gang back. The strike is not yet over, as it is understood that Sheriff Solomon will join. He is understood to be of the same' opinion as was Captain John Smith of Virginia, w ho remarked that he' who would not work should not eat. In consequence, there is likely to be several sev-eral very hungry people in Salt Lake ere the rising of tomorrow's sun. |
