Show U. S. MINES WINS FROM PINNEY IN CLOSE GAME Frank Shepherd, TJ. S. Mines hurler, had too much on the ball Sunday for Plnney Beverage, handing them a 6-2 defeat. Shepherd Shep-herd was touched tor two runs, three of them in one inning, the second of which accounted for two rums. From there on throun out the entire game, "Shep" had the second place Pinney crew under un-der his thumb. McDuffie was touched for two runs in 'the third inning when Reed doubled, followed by singles sing-les by Shepherd and Mattson, and a long fly by Krissman producing produc-ing scores. Three runs were scored scor-ed In the sixth and three hits and two errors. The final tally came in the eighth, two base hits and a stolen base producing the score. TJ. S. Mines dropped the second game, which was an exhibition, by a score of 3-2. Duncombe pit-' ched masterful ball, allowing only on-ly 7 hits, .four of which came in the second frame, and scored 3 tallies for the Beverage crew.
