Mrs. Dilliard made a full confession and was sentenced sen-tenced lo prison for life. Bartholomew's neck was broken by the fall. Although Bartholomew threatened to give the sheriff trouble and tight to the last, he walked to the scaffold quietly with linn step. After all the arrangements were bompleled he declared himself in-noeent, in-noeent, and then liegan damning all his accusers, demanding that detective Johnson and his paramour, Mrs. Dilliard, Dil-liard, lie also hung. His last words were mixed with violent oaths and blasphemous language.
