Show Utah Copper Co Produces Rare Ore Molybdenum, an important metal used in industries, Is being recovered recover-ed from ores at the Utah Copper company's mines here in Bingham. Experiments begun several years ago to determine feasibility of molybdenum moly-bdenum extraction have passed first experimental stages D. D. Moffat, vice president and! general manager manag-er of the company,, revealed last week. Production on a small scale has already begun. ; Ores of the Utah Copper contain only a fraction of a pound per ton with only a small part recovered. Value of the recovered mineral amounts to a few Cents per ton. "While satisfactory metallurgical recoveries have not yet been reached," reach-ed," said Mr. Moffat, "constant improvement im-provement is being made which promises pro-mises production before long of lu-creasing lu-creasing quantities of molybdenits concentrates. Eventually production should reach such substantial proportions pro-portions that when and it our expectations ex-pectations are fully realized, the state of Utah will appear as a sizeable size-able factor In the' molybdenum production pro-duction of our country." Distinguishing characteristics of the metal is its ductibility. Current price is around 40 cents a pound. United States is the world's leading producer. O |
