Show BIG CREEK MINES signal weiser idaho 1 I 11 friar of 0 big creek district was in the city saturday evening en route to dolse boise to spend christmas mr friar is in te ersted in mining on dig big creek and has been working the pueblo columbia and the apex properties the work on these properties has been going on steadily all fall and winter and a tunnel three hundred and thirty five feet has been run on the pueblo cutting the vein at one hundred and thirty five feet the work on the mill at pueblo is almost completed and it is expected that it will be running within the next thirty days andone and one shift is taking out ore for the test run shortly to be made the ledge they are working on is a six foot free gold proposition running about fifteen dollars to the ton toll the mill on the columbia is now under construction and mr friar expects to see it running within the next sixty days and in the meantime men are busy running tunnels and blocking out ore preparatory to its test run the ore now being taken out ot the columbia will average forty to fifty dollars per ton and is of the free milling variety at the apex a force of men is engaged in running a tunnel to cut a vein that has shown in samples values of over and others running almost pure this of course is abnormal and is only shown in small streaks but the general assay shows a value of 80 to the ton and mr friar is of the opinion that it will develop into one of the best paying properties of the big creek country the building and grading of roads has taken considerable time and meant quite a layout of money to those operating in that section in order to get the machinery necessary to work his properties mr friar had to build seven miles of road himself which meant an expense of nearly this road is now completed and ready to turn over to the state in speaking of the future and possibilities of that country he is very optimistic and remarked that the coming of the railroad the proposed extension of the pacific and idaho northern through the meadows and to the big creek country would make it one of the greatest mining districts in the state |
