| Show OIL FIELD NEAR EPHRAIM A special from ephraim utah to the salt lake herald says the prospect of opening up an oil field in this neighborhood is the chief topic of discussion among all classes of citizens in the city the many favorable reports made on the district by oil experts from all parts of the country have not only convinced our own people that oil will be found here but outside people have become convinced as well early in the fall pennsylvania oil people visited the district they make a careful examination of the country and took with them samples of oil shale and the oil that was retorted from it these samples were tested in the standard oil refinery in franklin pa so well pleased were the gentlemen with the results of these tests that they again visited the field and after a very careful inspection spec tion of the ground determined to make a test A corporation is now being organized under the name of the sanpete valley oil gas company which will begin the work of sinking the well shortly after the first of th tho year charles E smith of franklin pa will be the president of the company loren morrison of salt lake city vice president and AT T murray of ephraim secretary and treasurer these officers with charles T smith of franklin pa and loren E D morrison of salt lake will constitute the board of directors the articles of incorporation will be filed with the secretary of state this week the company owns a section of the best bes land in the valley and has a very large acreage under lease the directors of the silver cave mining company held a meeting in this city satui day matters pertaining to the past years operations were passed upon and it was decided to continue work on the property during the winter the company has a large arge group of claims near the famous camou s D deer eer trail mine at marysvale Marys vale recent operations have uncovered some very fine property |
