Show STRINGERS OF PURE GOLD in another column in this issue there pears an article on worn out min ap camps in which it is shown that the mining 1118 te is a misnomer as there is really no tern such sus thing as a worn out camp to prove which assertion we hereby reproduce a special to td the reno gazette from the old camp of olinghouse nevada which says the most phenomenal strike ever ded in the white horse hoise mining district has been made by dewitt bovee and his pittsburg pennsylvania associates who are driving a long tunnel on the ora group a half mile northwest of olinghouse the group is is under a bond to the bovee crowd which recently started a tunnel that is intended to tap the lead on the crown point group owned by jack sheehan which lies adjacent the bovee company also has a bond on the sheehan property for and it is said that both properties will be taken over tomorrow or the next day the strike was made f from rom the mouth of the tunnel and at a depth of sev enty five feet while cutting the tunnel the workmen were surprised to see several large nuggets of free gold in the rock and upon examination they found that the heavy stringers in the precious metal ran entirely across the tunnel a distance of ten feet several of them are as large as the palm of the hand and almost pure gold As soon as the strike became known it caused a stampede to the vicinity of the mine claims are being staked out by hundreds of men who are leaving other parts of t the e district to investigate old prospectors who looked at the property say that the strike is one of the most important ever made in the state the ora group is owned by D M harvey E H proctor lem allen alien and george nichols jack sheehan whose crown point is under bond to the bovee combination of capital says the strike made on the ora group is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable ever made in nevada mr sheehan arrived in reno last night and today he has been questioned by dozens of excited people who have heard about the wonderful ora strike the values cannot be estimated he says but that the mine will produce a fortune is a certainty nis his own property is is bonded for and he expects this thi i to 10 be taken up at once |
