Show THE GOLD PICK MINE courier grants pass oregon manager frank fowler of the gold pick mine located on bolen creek was in in grants pass saturday to arrange for the hauling out to his mine of a three stamp mill and a pelton wheel which are to arrive this week from san francisco manager fowler has had twelve men at work for several months doing development deve loment work and in preparing for installing the mill and power A ditch three fourths of a mile long has been completed that will bring inches of water from east bolen creek and deliver it to the wheel under a head of feet this will furnish ample power for a large mill and bolen creek being fed from the mountains the water supply will continue during the summer months lumber for the mill and for other purposes was hauled from the saw mills near selma to sucker creek and then packed on over the trail A new tunnel is being put in that will strike the vein on a lower level than the previous development work and as there is but thirty feet to complete the ore body will be reached by the time the mill is completed the mill will be located on the creek at the foot of the hill and the ore will be brought from the mine by tram cars the track willbe about 1000 feet long and the cars will be operated by gravity the loaded cars raising the empty cars the gold pick group of claims cover a remarkable body of ore both for size of deposit and high grade the vein has been found to be fully feet wide and just how long it is has not been ascertained but it extends for several miles across the hills |
