Show THE BEN HUR MINE A dispatch from republic washington says the ben hur mine is running full handed the north drift on the foot level is now in over feet on the vein vein asa less than feet further to run to connect with the old tunnel workings and is gaining four feet a day with one shift when the connection is made the mine can be ventilated ventilate and worked to fine advantage on the bottom level the north drift has passed the ore shoot on that side of the shaft and is being driven ahead to for another one it is now in feet on this level tons of ore was extracted from the pay shoot south of the shaft and nothing has since been done in that part of the mine continues on both levels but the mine is capable of yielding in its present condition from thirty to forty tons of ore a day or twice its present production only fifteen to twenty tons a day are now hoisted to the surface and the present shipments amount to only fifteen or twenty carloads a month the greenwood smelter is overloaded and the yards are full of ben hur ore hence only tons were shipped there last month the previous shipments having exceeded the companas comp anys contract with the B C copper company some ore was shipped to the hall mine smelter at nelson bo C and arrangements were finally made with the northport North port smelter to which all of the ore from the mine is now being shipped up to the past few days it has been hauled to the spokane british columbia railway loading platform shipped over that line to grand forks junction and there transferred to the washington great northern line this company has completed a loading station at its switchback below the ben hur shaft and the ore for northport North port is now delivered there for direct transit over the ore line |
