Show INTHE IN THE FUNERAL RANGE herald rhyolite nevada over where the funeral range dips down toward death valley to the southwest T L oddie and associates promise to open the eyes of the mining world and create another big gold mining district in the desert two properties in the echo district have re bently been bonded previous mention hav ing been made in this paper the hick and leavitt property being under bond to mr f oddie et al for and the iron clad group to charles schwab john mckane and pat obrien for it is up to senator oddie to do the work and he is doing it the iron clad group grou p is is y the north eit extension tension of the hicks leavitt and the property of bradshaw and is the south extension xi V oddie is opening L g up the ledges and the other fellows are i awaits awaiti baiting n 9 developments mr oddie will pay on the last of december and the bal ance of will be due one year later schwab mckane and obrien will pay the last of september and must pay the balance of the first of december of this the bradshaw property is not under bond but there is a deal pending the owners demand a cash payment of the hicks leavitt property is located thirty five miles southeast of rhyolite on the opposite slope of funeral range overlooking death valley but the present wagon road via daylight springs the distance is sixty five miles the property consists of nine claims the formation is quartzite schist and lime numerous veins of quartz traverse the ground cropping for thousands of feet upon this group and the two groups end lining same there are six veins more than twelve feet wide on the average and several veins that are two three or f four our feet wide eight surface samples of pounds each gave returns from 2 to in gold in every instance where any work has been done the values have increased from 15 to per ton at the slight depth of from ten to twelve feet the principal work of hicks leavitt consisted of a ten foot shaft from which a crosscut cross cut was run exposing twenty five feet of ore running 35 in gold between two and three feet of this ore assayed from 65 to out of a dozen or more openings from ten to twelve feet samples were taken the average being 20 samples taken from the surface and underground workings averaged 25 the new work now in progress by mr oddie consists of a shaft down fifty feet an average of the ore from the bottom of the shaft shows values of 78 at this depth a station is being cut and a crosscut cross cut will be run to reach the schist wall the ledge on which this work is being done runs from twelve to thirty feet in width and crops for feet without a break when all of these gold bearing ledges are developed it is reasonable to predict that the hicks leavitt property will become a big milling proposition while its neighbors which have these same ledges and the same surface values are in line to be just as good bradshaw have opened the same ore and values as hicks leavitt one of the ledges crops for 0 feet on the iron clad group and an average assay from the droppings crop pings show values of 4 the three groups are traversed by a network of qua quartz artz veins of a very nature carrying some manganese with which the best values are present the iron clad group was bonded after being examined by pat 09 obrien Brien who is largely interested in the bullfrog consolidated and other properties in in the bullfrog district mr oddie and associates are contemplating the erection of a mill the construction of a wire rope tram tramway wayt and the establishment of an electric power plant for the mining and treating of the ore from the hicks leavitt the mine is five miles from the amargosa amargoso river where an abundance of water may be secured at slight depth |
