Show conditions AT FAY NEVADA special correspondence fay nev june 10 but little development work is being done in this camp at present the failure of the shawmut nevada mining and milling company and a pray smith its successor having been a knockout blow to all operations pending a straightening streight ening out of affairs the failure of the company to make good seems to have been due to internal dissension a result of which the necessary supply of money to keep the thing going until it got on a paying basis was cut off G pray smith the manager and president of the company then attempted to run the enterprise on his own account and extricate it from its difficulties and only succeeded in putting it deeper in the hole he is still making every effort to put the thing on its feet and may yet succeed A few men are at work at the buck mine taking out some rich brej ore a portion of which is shipped to the smelters shelters sm elters at salt lake and the balance is run through the horseshoe mill as often as a enough is accumulated for a run just what the th values are of the ore shipped to the amel ter is not known as at the present wi whitin tl the returns have not been received s hut but it 1 is safe to say that it will run over per op ton in gold with very high silver values the milling ore will average 25 per ton this ore is being mined from a six foot streak and is quite uniform in size some gome specimens have been shown from the property that have run 2800 per ton it in gold no one is permitted to examine the strike none but employees being allowed to go down the shaft this strike is the biggest thing made in this country since the johnny was opened up at stateline Stat eline and the future operation of the property will te be watched with great interest mr G pray smith claims a five year operating bond on the property and is intending to open it up on a big scale while stockholders of the mountain view mining company declare his bond has expired and that the president of the company will soon be in pay fay to take possession of the property no matter who has the control the property is one of great merit and it is to be hoped that nothing will happen happ enthat that will retard its development and likewise the future of the camp the big snowflake property which adjoins the buck on three sides is idle at ai present and will no doubt remain so until the suit to quiet title is decided the case is now on trial at pioche before judge brown and an early settlement is expected the horseshoe mine is also closed but it is rumored that there will be something I 1 doing there at no distant date mr A W mccune the owner is expected home from peru in a short time and will decide as to the future operations at the property the newport nevada company at deer lodge is running along steadily with everything now on a paying basis A large number of improvements have been recently made in the mill under the direction of mr yearsley the superintendent mr philbeck has charge of the mine operations and has ore reserves for many months nio nth running of the mill 0 |
