Show FREIGHT RATES TO GOLDFIELD in another column mention is made of the fact that utah jobbers have been negotiating with C L marsh upon the question 0 of f establishing a freight line from some point on the salt lake route to the new camps of bullfrog and goldfield in nevada these negotiations have been brought to a successful fruition and mr marsh left for the south last week for the purpose of perfecting arrangements and it is believed that it will not be long now before the new freight line will be in successful operation the committee appointed by the commercial club to confer with mr marsh upon this new enterprise has made its report as follows salt lake city utah march 8 1905 5 14 mr P W madsen chairman com commercial m erceal clubs special committee nevada business dear sir your committe acting under instructions to contract with mr C L marsh for the transportation of merchandise from salt lake city utah to goldfield and other mining camps in southwestern nevada begs leave to report as follows after consultation it was decided to make individual contracts between shippers ana mr marsh and not a contract as between the jobbers and manufacturers as a body cause this body had no legal existence 3 have decided upon a form of contract gach each member of this committe has exe jk ed the same representing their corni comi nies jiles and we have provided additional at 11 tracts which will be in the hands of r fisher harris secretary of the com erceal club and we wish all parties g to enter this field for business to call the commercial club rooms and execute ese op contracts tracts at their earliest convenience amr mr marsh has gone to nevada to con aude ude his arrangements for the opening of ais Is freight route and in a very few daya e will be able to make shipments the contract provides for the following eight rates between salt lake city utah nd d goldfield nev governed by the west rn railroad classification 1 4 l first class freight second class freight third class freight fourth class freight for each bounds and a proportionate rate to all other eints in southwestern nevada the time pot ot to exceed twelve days from salt lake kity ity utah to goldfield nev j the contract further provides that the bobber obber or manufacturer will pay to mr arsh a forwarding charge or bonus for all goods which he shall transport as follows to be determined by the western railroad classification upon second class freight at the rate of 12 2 per ton upon second class freight at the rate of per ton upon third class freight at the rate of per ton upon fourth class freight at the rate of 11 per ton minimum charge shall be 50 cents C N STREVELL COLONEL T G WEBBER WARREN BOGUE |
