Show THE RED WING EXTENSION work is progressing most satisfactorily in the development and eap exp exploitation imitation of the property or the red wing extension mining compana com pang at bingham and manager ed me carrick is more hopeful than ever before as to the ultimate success of this enterprise As previously mentioned in these columns the company has opened up large reserves of a good grade of milling ore in its tunnel level but for sometime past mr mccarrick has been engaged in the sinking of an incline shaft on the hanging wall side of the mammoth ledge which is characters characterise charac terise tic of this valuable and promising property in the performance of this work and when EL a depth of feet had been attained a cut was made back to the of the deposit where much to the satisfaction of all concerned a six foot body of ore was 1111 uncovered coV of gratifying milling values a portion of the vein showing ore or of 0 sappl quality aua lity As a matter of fact so encouraging was the showing at this point that the ledge edge has since been drifted upon north and south for a distance of twenty feet each way this exploratory work demonstrating the fact that the lode is stronger and even of better quality as work progresses in its development and the mining review is informed that it is the intention of the company to continue operations on this level until the permanency of the vein is clearly established when sinking will be resumed with the hope that water level will soon be reached as upon the solution of this water problem rests the proposition now under consideration of mill construction as it is the purpose of the management jo to put in a mill as soon as water in ample supply is secured for milling treatment as ore in sufficient quantity is even now blocked out in the mine workings to warrant the erection of such a plant in the tunnel level alone it is estimated that the company has all of sixty or seventy thousand tons of ore that is virtually blocked out and in sight that could easily be extracted extrac te tev 7 for milling purposes and this ore will average 12 per cent lead and 2 ounces in silver to the ton with a little gold present and this ore reduced to concentrates will carry an excess of 15 per cent in iron over silica thus making it a most desirable product at the smelters shelters sm elters this in itself is a good showing but with the volume of ore recently disclosed in the drift from the bottom of the incline presuming that the ore zone is continuous from the tunnel level to this point it is safe to assume that the tonnage now obtainable in the mine will almost double the amount state only a small force is employed in mine development at the present time but the men are working on ore which is being piled up on the dump awaiting the time when it can be successfully treated on the ground the company has not been saying much of late regarding its mining operations but the indications arethas are that it will not be long now before ingham bingham will awaken to the fact that it is the possessor of another big mine |
