Show OREGON sumpter miner A W ellis is exhibiting some very fine gold sulphide ore today which came from the mountain meadow over in the rock creek district there are four claims in the group owned by mr VMS bills george turner and the biswell estate the ore shown by mr ellis is very high grade it came from a two foot streak in the main drift some high assays essays have previously been received from this property sumpter miner dr george ireland and R T williams of st edwards nebraska accompanied by managed van vleet of the gold bug returned from a visit to the property this afternoon dr ireland left on the afternoon train to stop a few days in spokane where he will be joined by mr williams both gentlemen ent lemen are interested in the gold bug and are exceedingly well pleased with their visit they brought in a number of rich samples to have assayed sumpter american on tuesday of this week the stamps of the testing mill recently installed on the imperial began dropping and it is expected that daily shipments of at least five tons of concentrates will begin to the sumpter smelter today it is the intention to sack the high grade shipping ore and also send it to the smelter continuously work was started on the plant the lust and its completion in such a quick time is a credit to mcewen arthur mcewen who are operating the well known mine under a lease and bond myrtle creek mail J H who 4 with his brother R P are developing some very rich quartz claims on south myrtle left some very high samples of ore in this office saturday 3 H and J J chadwick own another very rich prospect in that vicinity with hundreds of rich prospects within a dadius of three miles many of which are developed to a point requiring machinery with an average value of about 40 per ton there is little doubt that within a few deais a thousand stamps or more will be pounding out ot gold in this camp baker city herald J P mcguigan manager of the alamo returned this week from a trip to spokane where he conferred with his associates it has been decided mr mcguigan says to put on a good development crew and start up the mill in a short time this will probably take place within the next two weeks in addition mr mcguigan says it has been definitely decided to install a thirty ton cyanide plant work on this is also to be started at an early day the mill will need some little remodelling remo delling and adjustment and it is fiuren that the cyanide plant is all that is needed further to effect a high per cent of saving jacksonville sentinel john Margre margreiter lter who has a farm on the sterling road three miles south of jacksonville bids fair to have a gold mine to add to the value of his his land recently while prospecting on mr Marg land george pick who is one of the most successful prospectors in southern oregon struck a ledge that has considerable gold in it but whether it is a paying vein or not has not been demonstrated as mr margreiter Mar geiter gelter has not had it developed ve loped there is a probability that the ledge contains good values as it is in the same formation as are the other gold bear ing ledges about jacksonville |
