Show THE CHECKMATE MINE statesman boise idaho while in town yesterday E D 11 dewey gave some interesting information respecting spec ting the work being done in the checkmate mine at pearl the south crosscut on the foot level had cut another vein this ledge is seven feet wide and shows ore though no samples from it have been assayed the ground seems somewhat broken and a large quantity of water is coming in the pump throwing gallons a minute this is the third or fourth vein opened by the crosscut the great vein known as the morgan lead for which it is being driven has not yet been reached the north crosscut has been td driven thriven feet feet it has not disclosed anything like lika a vein but none has been looked for the crosscut will have to be driven several hundred feet farther before it can be expected to open anything of which they have known ledge there are several veins in the levan group for the development of which the work is being done and there is no doubt that important will be recorded when they shall have been reached as they show much rich ore in the upper works the west drift on the foot level has been driven feet on the checkmate vein and is coming into ore scattered bunches of galena being found on oh the level above the shoot dipped west and this dip has carried it farther west on the lower level than it was on the one above mr dewey stated that the news from the lincoln mine was that it was showing improvement |
