Show SOUTH STAR COPPER milford times old south star district is now trying to break into copper circles and as a preliminary nary move comes forward with a strike that promises to place the district among the producers of the red metal it is said to be the most important strike of copper ore ever made in either of the star districts and is of considerable significance in indicating the great extent of the copper bear ing zone the strike was wag made in the beacon property being worked under bond and lease by john leyshon abe fotheringham garrett reynolds john forgie and charles smith they have been running a tunnel on the vein to strike the bottom of the old incline in line at a depth of feet for some time they have been in ore of a good grade but last week ran into a lime horse that seemed to cut everything off upon going through this horse they broke into a body of fine copper ore over two feet in width which widens and improves with every foot of work the belij is filled with copper pyrites and peacock ore and will also run high in in iron its exact value will not be known until assay returns are received but it is good stuff and the boys are elated over the discovery this ore was encountered about eighty feet in from the mouth of the tunnel and twenty feet more will bring the tunnel tun nel to the old incline the beacon has been a producer of high grade silver lead ore but nothing like this copper rock was ever found before in the opinion of many it is destined to become one of the great mines of south star |
