Show METALS FROM MINES IN UTAH IN 1925 record output of silver and lead and large increase in gold and zinc are shown the mines of utah in 1925 produced gold silver cop per lead and zinc valued at an increase of nearly over the output of 1924 according to a statement issued by the department of commerce Comi nerce based on estimates by V C heikes of the bureau of mines the output of silver and lead exceeded that of any year since the mines were discovered and the output of zinc and gold was decidedly larger than that of 1924 the quantity of copper the most valuable of the state was slightly less than i in n 1924 utah was first in the united states in the production of silver second in that of lead and third in that of copper its lead output was greater in 1925 than that of idalio idaho which has held second place for many years one of the important features of the industry was the unusual progress made in the milling of zinc lead ore by d differential notation flotation at international al bauer and midvale the dividends paid by mining compa companies nies in utah in 1925 as shown by published statements amounted to about exclusive of paid by the united states smelting smelling Sm elting refining mining company which controls mines at eureka and bingham as well as mines in in other states the companies that contributed to this total were the utah copper tintic gintic standard silver king coalition utah apex park utah consolidated park city mining smelting smelling Sm elting chief consolidated bingham mines ohio copper and mammoth increase in output of gold the production of gold old increased about 21 per cent from in 1924 to about in 1925 practically all the gold was recovered from ores and concentrates smelted smelter smelt ed as the tintic gintic standard mining company was the only one that recovered any gold or silver in bullion or precipitates pronounced increases in the output of gold were made by the park utah utah apex united states and chief properties but there were large decreases from the utah copper utah delaware and the centennial eureka mines As a result the gold from the park city and tintic gintic districts was much more than in 1924 but the output of bingham which produces most of the gold of the state was slightly less the largest producers of gold were the utah copper chief consolidated including grand central united states park utah and utah apex companies other mines that produced more than 1000 ounces each were the utah delaware silver king coalition tintic gintic standard park city mining smelting smelling Sm elting bingham mines iron blossom mammoth victoria and eagle blue bell properties record silver output the output of silver increased from ounces in in 1924 to ounces in 1925 thereby exceeding the former record of 1923 of ounces no neighboring state competes with utah in silver output and it produces more silver than nevada arizona and colorado combined the value of the output of silver increased from to there was a general increase in silver from park city tintic gintic and bingham but the largest increase came from the park city district largely from the park utah mine the gintic tintic standard mining company was again the largest producer of silver in utah and it was followed by the chief consolidated park utah silver king coalition and park city mining smelting smelling Sm elting companies other large silver producers were the united states utah apex victoria ontario utah copper iron blossom utah delaware bullion beck bingham mines mammoth and ophir hill properties decrease in copper output increase in value the production of copper decreased from pounds in 1924 to pounds in 1925 but the value increased from to utah retained its place as the third producer of copper in the united states as a result of operations of the utah copper company the largest producer more ore was treated and the recovery in concentrate was much better in 1925 but the grade of milling ore was lower the company produced nearly pounds of copper a month the ohio copper company continued to leach ore in place near bingham and made a large though decreased output of copper the utah apex company became an important producer of copper and other large producers were vere the chief consolidated silver king coalition united sta states utah delaware and ophir hill mines highest record yet made for lead the output of lead increased from pounds in 1924 to pounds in 1925 an increase of 27 per cent and a record for the state the rhe value increased from to and the average price from 8 cents to about cents a pound the lead smelting smelling plants at midvale murray and international ter national were unusually active and the shipments of lead bullion were greatly increased the milling of much low grade ore containing lealand lea lead dand and zinc minerals and the separation of these by flotation have cave made commercial products from material formerly unprofitable the utah apex company increased its output and was the leading lead producer of the state it was followed closel closely y by the silver king coalition tintic gintic standard a and nd united states companies other large producers W vere ere the park city mining smelting smelling Sm elting chief con utah delaware be laware park utah keystone bingham mines horn silver victoria ophir hill eagle blue bell mammoth iron blossom and cardiff mines considerable lead ore and concentrate was also shipped from alta ophir frisco and gold hill much work was done in improving mills at park city bingham and eureka as well as the custom plants at international bauer and midvale the large new notation flotation mill at midvale will be completed early in 1926 increase in output of zinc the zinc recovered from ore and concentrate leached beached or smelted smelter increased from pounds in 1924 to about pounds in 1925 and the value from to A noteworthy increase was made from the ores of both park city and bingham due in large part to the successful operation of the custom flotation plant at international where mixed ores were we re reduced to lead concentrate smelted smelter locally and zinc concentrate which was shipped to great falls mont the united states company at midvale operated its wet mill and electrostatic plant and also a small pilot flotation plant while the large 6 flotation mill was under construction at bauer the combined metals reduction company trea treated ted zinc lead ore largely from nevada bu but t partly from the bullion coalition property near stockton utah the united states property at bingham retained its place place as the largest zinc producer of utah it was followed by the park city mining smelting smelling Sm elting park utah and utah
