Show government agent settles fallon oil 01 1 conkli conflicts acts BY A J MOORE fallon fallen nevada oct 22 the efforts of the newly organized fallon fallen oil operators association have already home borne fruit one of the first legislative acts of the association was to wire washington asking that a government representative be sent here to investigate vesti gate conflicts that had arisen over over oil leasing permit applications J H favorite from the san francisco land office arrived in the district several days ago going over the whole field with him were representatives of both sides in the conflicts the result of mr favorites visit is that compromises have been made on nearly all conflicts to the satisfaction of both parties the only conflicts undecided are a few between individuals vi all the big companies are freed from all contests so that they are now at liberty to go ahead the companies involved were the big 4 fallon oil gas fallon pioneer rainier oil company silver state consolidated crystal oil company paramount and the acmore oil refining on most of these only quarter sections were involved in most instances the applicant in taking up locations and making applications thereon for the four square miles allowed by law had overlapped on to other ground under the new arrangement the applicants have relinquished ed all rights on the contested ground by this arrangement the original locators have their land restored to them and the applicants retain such portions of the ground asked for as had not previously been claimed by other persons or companies when the arrangements made by mr favorite became known a feeling of relief spread all over fallon as it was known that the relationship between some of the contestants te was badly strained among the permits that have been ls issued aed recently is one to the le roy paraffin oil company and the diamond oil company the Cal avade oil company and the oil refining company on the acmore the permit is on the acres in section 31 and as the conflicting parties on the acres in section 7 have relinquished their claim the permit on this should be coming along any day the diamond had through president nelson received a permit on part of their ground and now in name of the company permit comes through for balance of the land first held by them the returns from a request for analysis of the fallon oil has been received by alex from the state university of nevada to many it will be a disappointment at first sight but on second thought they will swell up with pride in that nevada can put it all over california and other states as to quality of oil the disappointment will be in that the nevada university analysis shows it as asphaltum base and not paraffin fin as many had hoped it is shown to carry 32 per cent of lubricants and 30 per cent he kerosene rosene and the gravity as baume the average of the california oil is about 39 19 baume and as the price is regulated by the degree of gravity daume baume taking 19 degrees as the basis and adding 10 cents for each degree the fallon fallen oil will bring 40 cents a barrel over the price of the average california oil taking as the average california price then fallon oil should bring something to be quite proud of and a great profit maker as well the big 4 oil company has been somewhat delayed in drilling owing to the sand formation encountered at feet A big sand pump has been purchased by the company and when they are through with it the pump will be available for use by other companies so far as explored this whole field seems to have the same quicksand at about feet it has been encountered from the fallon pioneer on the northeast to the diamond on the southeast and to the big 4 on the west between these points is a distance of about twenty miles and the companies drilling within that triangle such as the fallon oil gas the silver state and the lahontan have also encountered the same trouble at practically the same depth vie the new sand pump is now installed and fast clearing the hole the big 4 is working three shifts the big 4 since getting its 8 inch cylinder sand pump into inta action has made rapid progress they are now down feet using 10 inch casing the churchill has completed their derrick and driller gregory is on the way in to take charge and resume drilling the fallon pioneer is down feet in a blue shale and everything running smoothly since the recovery of the bit lost some time ago they are now using 1212 inch casing having landed the stovepipe at feet they report an ample supply of casing now on hand they have 1200 feet of 12 inch and over 1000 feet of 10 inch and considerable 8 inch casing on the ground this amount will keep them going for some time itis it it is expected that it will carry them to the oil sand the fallon oil gas have only made seventeen feet progress as they were in a very hard formation at the surface they studded in practically on the crown of the dome and drilling had to be done with churn drill this formation has been passed and drilling resumed with the rotary from now on good speed may be expected as driller turner has the log of the first well as a guide the derrick for the churchill county oil gas is completed and driller gregory is on his way here he will move his family from california having rented a house nears near the williams ranch where the well is located J H branley president of the weaver oil company and the plumas oil company was in fallon recently he states that he will have a ra rig 1 g on the plumas ground within sixty days and that the weaver is to resume drilling at once W J bracking and J H holman were in fallon last week and visited the lahontan oil syndicate and other proper teis in which they are interested J aa M has returned from california and is now at stillwater looking after his interests there he has leased the stillwater hotel from parke wheeler and will refurnish it he looks for stillwater to be the next oil town of importance in nevada outside of fallon the wheeler bheeler oil syndicate well is down about feet and in a very hard blue shale carrying some oil dr wheeler whee ler president of the company comp any states that while drilling has been slow during the past week the oil indications are most encouraging cou raging alfred babcock president of the dig big valley oil company was in fallon last week looking over the field he expects to be drilling on his property in the near future the consolidated oil potash company is making good progress with drilling operations started two weeks ago the indian lands petroleum company received a wire from washington which reads indian lands Petrol petroleum eurn companas Comp anys leases have been approved lets go signed commissioner of indian affairs this company now holds acres of indian lands under lease one benefit to some from the visit of chief of field division J H favorite is that those in receipt of oil leasing permits are informed info rived that their permits will be made transferable and the process of transfer was explained in detail this will allow the holders of permits to assign same to a corporation something that was not so understood before |
