| Show CORE DRILLING OF OIL SHALE DEPOSITS the ventura consolidated oil company owners of extensive oil shale deposits in the debeque district colorado is arranging shortly to conduct work of core drilling on its properties as explained in the last issue of the shale review E B bumsted chief engineer for the company states that it is proposed to drill at least three holes from the top of the mountain through the shale formation the topography of the country and the known shale beds would indicate that these holes will be in the neighborhood of 1500 feet deep they will be of bf inestimable value in proving the actual thickness of the shale beds and the value of each particular vein some matters in connection with the application of this work to cover assessment requirements have been under investigation and for this reason the work is not yet started although fully de aided upon meanwhile the ventura company has a large crew of men constructing roads and making preliminary developments definite plans fo for shale retorts have no not t yet been made |
