Show LABOR TROUBLE AT PARK CITY on tuesday may 6 every mine at park city utah was closed down by a strike oi of employed miners about 1000 men going out owing to the refusal of mining operators to grant a six hour bour day and a wage of per shift pump and engine men were allowed to remain at work for a specified period the strike resolution follows we the strike committee of the strike called by the employees of the mines mills and smelters shelters sm elters of 0 park city and vicinity issue the following to the press the strike was called at a mass meeting of the employees of the pa park rk city district and will be enforced if the following demands are not complied with before 8 tomorrow morning 1 I 1 we demand a six hour day T 2 we demand per day T 3 we demand that two men be em played on all machines 4 we the members in mass meeting assembled agree unanimously that in the future we will not tolerate any discrimination against any member of any organization and that we will walk off the job throughout the entire district without notice if any member is discharged for belonging to any organization I 1 k we consider that these demands are not unjust in view of the high cost of living also in consideration of the hazardous employment of the miners no doubt exists but that the strike was brought about by I 1 W W agitators at this writing no settlement has been arrived at but under present operating conditions the mines will doubtless close down indefinitely rather than to submit to such unwarranted demands |
