Show MONTANA the butte superior mining alining company is now operating with less men than formerly carried on the payroll and with a wage reduction of monthly butte superior is now operating at about 90 per cent of normal hoisting approximately 1500 tons of silver zinc ore daily compared with a normal of around 1700 tons increased production from operations previously at 50 per cent or normal followed the report th that at butte superior has closed a contract on favorable terms for smelting smelling sm elting its concentrates by the american metal company a contract which is said to be one of the best butte superior ever has enjoyed A press dispatch from butte says that the anaconda copper mining company has had two notable mining disclosures recently the two most important of which is the one in the orphan girl claim in the western part pait of the butte district known as the west side or the hibernia neighborhood which development has brought a new producer into the ranks of the copper corpora tion of such promise as to attract more than ordinary attention the second find was made on the emma property of the butte copper zinc company which mine is being developed by the anaconda on a SOSO profit sharing agreement the grade and width of the development stamping it as of stellar importance particularly as the dominant value of the ore are found in the silver with high grade zinc the second metal in value and with lead and glod to help out the general run of the rock according to advices advises from butte the north butte mining company had pounds of unsold copper on hand at the beginning of the year this included 1616 pounds of finished copper ready for delivery the balance being metal en route and in process the copper which was actually in marketable condition was the companas comp anys september production it is understood north butte has a larger amount of copper unsold on hand now than at the first of the year despite the spurt in buying which developed late in march and was continued to a less degree in april this condition was in marked contrast to the situation two years ago when the company had not only sold its entire stock of copp copper er in process but had actually oversold pounds to be produced from ore which had not even been mined the net result at that time was a total of pounds sold none of which had been delivered by the refinery on january 1 1919 not a single pound of copper in process had been sold and the million odd pounds of september production were on hand march and april showed real results from curtailment with production cut to about pounds monthly practically all current copper production is coming from development operations |
