Show rejuvenation OF FAY some fifteen or twenty years ago quite heavy mining and milling operations characterized conditions at fay lincoln county nevada just over the boundary line from stateline Stat eline utah and but a short distance from Gold springs at one time regarded as being one of the most promising gold camps in that section fay has been in a deep sleep for a number of years but the good news has been received that the camp is to be rejuvenated the big old mine of the camp is to be resurrected and the old milling plant to be replaced by reduction works of modern design and char character acter I 1 in speaking of the new era about to dawn upon fay the record of pioche nevada says mining operations will be resumed at the gold camp of fay twenty five miles northeast of Pio pioche clie by a company now being organized by F A hazard and john C charles of los angeles to be called the fay exploration company the mine will be reopened and examined and it is the intention of the management to sink ohp main working shaft an additional feet in order that the property may be examined at that depth the equipment now on the property will be sold at once and replaced with other equipment better suited to the scale of work contemplated the large mill which cost to erect will be immediately dismantled and the building material and machinery sold the heavy hoist and the steam plant are to be taken out and will be replaced with internal combustion engines the extra buildings will be wrecked and the lumber disposed of as well as the cyanide plant and all the extra tools supplies and mining accessories the new company will start with a clean slate upon which to write a sensible development of that interesting region the magnificent mill was built before the mine was sufficiently developed to yield the tonnage of ore required to keep it in profitable operation while the mine has produced in bars of golden bullion this production was not sufficient to carry the expense of the huge plant when added to the expense of mining and development and work was suspended about eight years ago while the mill remained as a monument another monument to that industry which seems cursed intermit tenly with either insufficient or too much capital john C charles who was in pioche several days this week arranging the details of sales of a large amount of material to local operators left wednesday for fay where he will remain for some time in direct charge of the operations of the new company |
