Show GOLD IN TEXAS CLAY harry S joseph of salt lake returned last week from the holdings of the midwest liberty oil company at munday texas bringing with him samples of a mineralized clay which was found while the company was drilling water wells on its ground the bed was cut at a depth of only fifteen to eighteen feet it was about four feet thick in places while in others the shallow wells failed to pass through it mr josephs great experience in mining made him think that the clay looked mineralized erali zed when he first saw it early in the present month and more to satisfy his curiosity than with hopes that his suspicions were correct lie he had it assayed values of in gold and 8 in silver to the ton were found the clay is of a greenish blue color and is 92 per cent silica the gold is free and pans readily outside of the silver and gold from 4 to 1 per cent copper is reported also in the samples should the bed prove as extensive as expected and the values hold up to the first samples the discovery is regarded as one of the most remarkable mineral finds ever reported as it is claimed that in only one other place in the world is such a deposit known that is in south america |
